The home of Johann Sebastian Bach and the famous Castle at Salzburg. This town was still quite war-ravaged when I lived there from 1949 to 1950. My first memories of anything other than North Africa started here. I had a nanny to take care of me. Her name is Barbara Temple and she still is alive and here in the U.S. Barbara was a Countess of the Hungarian Royal family and had escaped to Austria where she was hired by my father. There was even an attemp by the Communist Government of Hungary to kidnap here, but we brought her with us to the States. |
